XMRIG: Mining faster with 6 threads on an 8 cores CPU

If I mine with 8 threads, I do 1500H/s, but if I mine with 6 threads i get lower CPU usage and higher hashrate (1650H/s). I don’t understand why. Maybe because with 8 threads CPU overheats?

This is my current threads config:

"rx/wow": [
    [2, 0],
    [2, 1],
    [2, 2],
    [2, 3],
    [2, 4],
    [2, 5]
],

And this is how i make it with 8 threads:
“rx/wow”: [
[2, 0],
[2, 1],
[2, 2],
[2, 3],
[2, 4],
[2, 5],
[2, 6],
[2, 7]
],

randomwow/x requires some cpu cache(1mb scratchpad) for hashing. could be that your cpu is on the low end of this?

For what its worth… I saw this when I was using XMR-STAK-RX but after switching to XMRig it did not happen. I’m currently running XMRig on a first gen AMD Ryzen 7 1700 getting just shy of 6khs using all 16 cores.

I think you are right - my CPU ( i7-1065G7 ) has 8MB cache and 16 cores… Thank you!
I will just use 8 threads (my cpu is not made for mining XD)
