Open Collective](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBU5fSILAe8) is an online funding platform for open source software and collaborative communities. The platform brings together legal entities that act as a "[Fiscal Host](https://docs.opencollective.com/help/fiscal-hosts/fiscal-hosts)", "[Collectives, and individuals interested in supporting projects with donations. Fiscal hosts hold donations for collectives in trust and handle all the taxes and legal stuff. When a collective needs to pay for something or someone, such a VPS or a freelance developer, an invoice can be filed to be paid in fiat from donations. The project budget and accounting of expenses are publicly available for increased transparency.

Individuals can make one-time donations or set up re-occurring monthly contributions at different levels, similar to patreon. Donations can be made by credit card. Individuals have the option to have their name listed as a financial contributor on the project page or contribute as an anonymous donor.

Wownero has been approved on the platform and is hosted by  Open Collective Europe, a Brussels-based non-profit that hosts many other collectives, such as Manjaro, EndeavourOS, Xfce, and peertube.social.
