If your pc is so old that you have only 256mb then I'm not even sure if the CPU's instruction set would support mining RandomX. Either way 256mb is definitely not enough just mining with xmrig takes up around 3 to 4gb.

I've heard wownero uses smaller pages than monero

Yeah you're right I'm sorry I don't think the memory will be a problem for Wownero. I'm not sure if older CPUs (earlier than 2011ish) will work though.
